Musée – Douarnenez’s boat museum
The permanent collection at Douarnenez’s boat museum, ‘Le
Port Musée’ certainly proves man’s maritime expertise.
Covering everything from fishing to pleasure-boating, from
the Breton waters to those of the Pacific, the museum houses
some thirty vessels in all their splendour plus hundreds of
maritime artefacts.
The impressive collections are supported by several films
and multimedia activities such as audio guides that mix
commentary with first-person recollections. These are
available free of charge to visitors and can be provided in
French, English and Breton.
When visiting, be sure to include the floating ships that
form part of the museum and are unique in France.
