Pont
Croix
Petite Cité de Caractère
Pont-Croix
is a ‘heritage town’ and stands as the historic capital of
the Cap Sizun area, with the privilege of being home to one
of the most beautiful sacred structures in Brittany – the
Collégiale.
This building, otherwise referred to as a Monastery church,
is said to be ‘as beautiful as any cathedral’, a masterful
example of the 13th century architectural style
that influenced all subsequent sacred architecture in
western Brittany. The steeple, which stands at 67m, was
built on the same lines as the twin spires of Quimper
cathedral.
Throughout this medieval town there are cobbled streets that
lead down towards the ancient port on the River Goyen.
Pont-Croix has always stayed true to its character and today
the town is rich in heritage, retaining its authentic
flavour whilst supporting many businesses and craftspeople.
You probably need more than a day to discover all its
charms!
Not to be missed:
The 13th century Monasterial Church ‘La Collégiale
Notre-Dame-de-Roscudon’ with its lace-effect stone carvings

fairs
