The
‘Pointe du Raz’ - one of France’s Grand Sites
The
coastal point known as the ‘Pointe du Raz’ is a magnificent
collection of granite rocks that dominates the wild and much-feared
seas off Brittany’s western coast.
The
viewpoint here offers an unparalleled outlook over the waves to the
Île de Sein and the much-photographed lighthouses of ‘La Vielle’ and
‘L’Armen’ as well as the waters of the Iroise sea, inspiration for
countless legends.
The
Pointe du Raz is the only destination in Brittany to win the title
of ‘Grand Site de France’, honoured by the Minister for Ecology and
Sustainable Development in recognition of the management’s comitment
to preservation.
Visitors
to the Pointe du Raz have free entry to the auditorium at the
visitor centre (Centre d'Interprétation et Maison du Site),
including its regular exhibitions.
There is also a shuttle-bus between the visitor centre and the furthest
point so you can either view the scenery whilst relaxing or
choose to set off on foot to explore the beautiful coastal walks.
