Musée de l’Amiral – bird and shellfish museum

This interactive museum is found near Pouldreuzic, just south along the coast from Plouhinec.
Set up by local man Guy Ségalen to share his passion for the marine world around us,
the museum now boasts over 10 000 shellfish of exceptional size and colour.

Here, you can learn how the writer Jules Verne created his famous fictional submarine, the Nautilus,
and more practical facts such as which shellfish can be fatal to human beings.

The Musée de l’Amiral also includes exhibits on more than 200 seabirds, set in a reproduction of their natural habitat.
Thanks to our interactive design, you can hear the birds singing and learn about each species.

Throughout your visit, you can watch films that explain fishing techniques, how people collect seaweed,
harvest pearl oysters and care for marine wildlife.

With exhibits spread over 500m2, this museum invites you to discover more about coastal life and share our enthusiasm.

We say that the Musée de l’Amiral is not an exhibition but more like a journey around the world!

Opening times:

from 15/02/2010 to 31/12/2010
Ouvert du mardi au dimanche (hors saison).
