Audierne

Follow the winding streets that lead from Audierne harbour
to the top of the town and you will find Saint Raymond
Church (dating from the 15th and 18th
centuries), which boasts one the few Baroque steeples in the
region.
Let yourself explore and you’ll discover at your own pace
the ancient stones of the old quarters (guide leaflet
available at the Tourist Office). Stroll the quayside,
browse in art galleries, have a nose in the boutiques or let
yourself be tempted by the lure of the pavement cafés that
line that harbour.
In Audierne, you will find all the delights of the sea
at your fingertips: watersports, fine, sandy beaches and
countless activities to enjoy as a family. All
year round, you can enjoy Audierne’s weekly open-air market
on Saturday mornings - a traditional shopping experience
where you can find fresh crêpes, biscuits, local fruit and
vegetables, organic bread, smoked meats, seafood and
shellfish, handmade cheeses and many other local
specialities.
During summer, Audierne also hosts a ‘Nocturnal
market’ on Wednesday evenings, with more craft stalls and
even activities for children.
Also worth a visit:
The Aquashow with its outdoor display of marine birds
The Maritime Museum that shows over 2000 years of
history and a sailors’ workshop
(come and learn how to tie authentic sailors’ knots, every
Wednesday morning)
The tiny island called the ‘Île de Sein’, with boat
trips starting from Audierne and Ste Evette harbours
The Capucins footbridge known locally as the ‘the
little wooden bridge’, that is the last remaining example of
Eiffel architecture within Finistère.
